Netflix (NFLX) provides and sells subscription services for TV shows and movies, offering customers the choice of receiving DVDs by mail, or streaming its available content through various smart devices in the home. Formerly a popular, high-flying growth stock, peaking near $300 per share in July of 2011, the company and the stock have fallen on hard times, and it currently trades around $73 per share. As with all technology stocks, the questions for Netflix are trifold. First, how does it compare to peers? Second, when will its current way of doing business be replaced by the next best thing? Third, how will the company adapt to the changing landscape? Let’s attempt to answer each of these questions, in turn.
Competition, a quick recap
The only direct, apples-to-apples, competition to Netflix is the former video store giant, Blockbuster, now owned by DISH Network (DISH). Both DISH Network and Netflix offer not only streaming entertainment content, but also DVDs through the mail. The Blockbuster division of DISH Network offers the extra component of personally exchanging DVDs in the dwindling number of Blockbuster branded storefronts, but I don’t expect that to be a lasting part of its business model due to unsustainably high overhead.

Born To Be Wild tells the story of two women who’ve dedicated their lives to rescuing orphaned animals – elephants in Kenya and orangutans in Borneo. This lush documentary, filmed originally in IMAX, is narrated by Morgan Freeman and tells an important story about people doing important work. 
It’s also one of the most charming DVDs you can rent – and your whole family will love it. Baby orangutans cannot survive in the wild without their mothers, and Dr. Biruté Mary Galdikas has spent the last 30 years of her life making sure that these amazingly human-like apes can grow up to be healthy and successful in the wild. For she isn’t rescuing and raising them to be Zoo animals; once old enough, they will be released back into the jungles of Borneo to live the rest of their lives as they were intended.
In Kenya, Dame Daphne M. Sheldrick has lived a similar life, spending the past 30 years assuring that orphaned baby elephants have a fighting chance when they are returned to the wild. These women have chosen to live such amazing lives, the documentary could have been just about them and I would have been happy to watch it. But the baby animals do make it more fun. Honestly, even a baby elephant, which probably weighs as much as my car just looks like something you could cuddle. And a baby orangutan would be welcomed in my home any day. My god, they are so cute!
My kids and I really enjoyed the movie, and it was nice to see such hopeful, positive work being done. We highly recommend!

1. DIY/Gardening equipment
Power tools must rank as one of the least-used items we own.
